Shake my booty !!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EUZdraLx04 ( YOUTUBE)
The song is from Lee Hyori called" Chitty Chitty Bang" .
It's a lot of fun, and some may even compare to be the like Korean version of Lady Gaga. I 'm not sure about that one yet..Lol.
Joining Dance Class in Korea has been a lot of fun, it's a KPOP (Korean Pop) Dance class, that starts at like 9:45pm and last for an one hour.
The class is great and I take it with two of my friends, in which we are the only foreigners so we are the special ones in the class.
We have about 13 people in our dance class...three of which are boys. We are sure one of the guys is gay but as for the other two, I go back and forth. You know Korean boys are girlier then American boys so its a little bit harder to pick out if they are Gay or not. But gay or not gay they are not the best dancers in the class. The only other person in our dance class who can keep up with our dance teacher is this 50 year old woman who tries to act like she is 20 years old. My friend Jess and I have dubbed her " Teacher's Pet" , because she is a huge stick up our dance teachers ass. She's always practicing and " showing off " her moves.
Now , about my dance teacher, she is an amazing dancer, not only can she can drop it like its hot, but she has these sick " techno moves". We're trying to figure out if she like every audition to be in a KPOP group here, but I think she would make it in the states as a backup dancer.
As for my own dance skills, they are okay...at first it was hard trying to keep up with them, but I think I've been getting better. Just because I'm Black does not mean I have all these awesome dance moves , it's definitely far from it. Lol

A little insight into the Korean War, and a little tiny peak of North Korea !
DMZ is the buffer zone between North and South Korea.

I went on this trip with a few of my friends through a company called" Adventure Korea". The trip was incredible and gave us a little insight into aftermath following the Korean War. During high school, I think we kinda of breezed through the Korean War,or maybe it just never stuck in my mind but after this trip , I became even more interested in learning about the Korean War.
Our trip first begun in Seoul and then we took a bus straight to the border, but before we went straight into the DMZ we stop at the city called Paju, which is located in South Korea, and it is known as the peace village. There you can see the Freedom Bridge, in which the tracks lead to North Korea. You can also see the prayers left by families who have been separated after the war.

Afterward we took a trip to the "3rd tunnel". It is a tunnel that was built from the North to the South in order to have a plan attack . So far four tunnels have been discovered but the government speculates that there are more tunnels. I have no pictures of the tunnel, because we were banned from taking pictures or even bringing the camera with us. All of our belongs had to be locked up. All I can say is that it was about a 300 meter climb to the bottom and then the ground leveled out and then we walked through a cave..til we reached a restricted barricade.
The next place we went to was the border..literally. We got to look out of a point to look into North Korea, but of course we could not see any people. The only thing we saw was a city...but it 's also known as " Propaganda City" aka, its just for show. I took pictures by the picture line, but the only thing I could get was a few mountains.
Our trip ended at Dorasan Station and its was the only station in the South that provided transportation from the North to the South, but since 2008 those borders have been closed.
At this location we all got stamps in our passport that say " From Dorasan Station to Pyeongyang", Pyeongyang is the capital of North Korea. I put the stamp...wayyy in the back of Passport though. I will post pictures later of that stamp. However here are a few pictures of Dorasan staion.
This trip was very interesting and it gave a little insight into the Korean War. I recommend anyone living in South Korea, to make a trip. I will say after this trip I have become more interested in reading up on the Korean War.
" Law School can wait one more year"...
What can I say ? I'm just not a good blogger ! Lol
The past four months in Korea have been amazing, and they have changed some of my future plans. The biggest decision that I've made was that I am no longer going to attend Law School this August. I didnt get into my dream school :( and I dont want to settle for a school that I don't really like. Therefore, I will be staying in Korea for 6 more lovely months. I realized that even if I did get into the law school of my choice then I would have still chosen to stay in Korea a little longer, and just defer my acceptance. 9 months ago when I first got here, if someone was to ask me ,if I would stay longer than a year, then I would have said " HELL NO" . But now I am so excited to stay a little longer.
Some of my friends and family members asked me , how I could possibly stay for 6 more months, because for them they cannot imagine Korea to be interesting. What they don't understand is that this is an incredible journey and adventure that I am on. I am learning so much about myself , another culture, and Im living an adventure. When I first signed up I would not expect to make such a good group of friends (Koreans and Foreigners) , have a kind and helpful school, a nice small city. I definitely had my ups and downs, in the beginning. Sometimes the staring can be too much or the obnoxious comments can make you upset. But you learn not to think so much about the bad because then it would overpower all the good that has happened . My students are great, and I love teaching them. They make my days happy or sometimes a little frustrating..but everything works out , when I go out for a drink with the teachers at my school.
It was good step that I made to stay here a little longer but , I do look forward to come for a few weeks during the summer. There are a ton of things about American that I have missed.
So since the last time I wrote on here, I was preparing to go to Thailand for 14 days. That trip wasng incredible. I did everything and more that I wanted to do......well except look at temples, except one. I rode an elephant , kayaking, snorkeling, and hiking, and had an over-all fun time. Even my 18 hour layover in China was not terrible. My friends and I got to get a 24 hr Visa to leave the airport, so we stayed at a nearby hotel. The hotel concierge told us his friend could drive us around to all the tourist spots for pictures for only 40 USD. Soo cheap ! The guy was really nice and spoke a little English but our friend Jing who is Chinese-American was able to talk to him so he didn't feel so awkward around lol. Our time was beautiful, the only thing that sucked was I sprained my ankle the second day...WTF! Other than me being a gimp for a few days, I did enjoy my 5USD foot massages and body massages for one full hour. I definitely recommend anyone to go to Thailand. So everything on this trip did work out. It was such an incredible trip that I will make another trip to Souteast Asia, maybe this winter to Vietnam.

5 months in Korea..WHAT ?!?!
So, its been awhile since I last posted a message, and I'm sorry for that. It's been very busy these past two months. So here is a quick update on things that happend in November and December. Well in November I had Thanksgving with a few of girlfriends at my friends apartment in Hwacheon. Hwacheon is very north of South Korea, and very close to North Korea. It's really cold, they get a ton of snow, but the scenary is beautiful. We had nice dinner in whch we made Chicken ( there was no where to fine Turkey) and a ton of other trimmings and sat down and ate a nice meal. I spent most of November in fog, just studying hard for my Lsat, which I took in December. I took it December 3rd, on a Sunday, and it was nauseating. I was extremely nervous, but I am that they are over with, I do not have the scores yet, but I am in the process of applying to Law School. Let me just say this, applying to law school overseas is a BITCH!!!!!!!
Well enough about November and December! Now its January. YAY, it will be five monthst that I have been here in Korea, and I cannot believe how the time has flyed. I have been a little homesick, because of the holidays that just past, but I am sure I will be ok because I am going to Thailand in two days for a much needed two week vacation. All I plan on doing is lying on the beach drinking margaritas, riding an Elephant( which I won't leave Thailand without doing) and going snorkeling. I will be going with three of friends here, Helen , Julia, and Jing, so we look forward towards this new adventure.
Also since school has been on winter vacation, I come to school still to teach a four hour English Winter Camp . I only have four students in the program, but its alot of fun. I have no co-teacher to help translate things, but with my very little Korean, and the students high beginners level of English we are able to understand each other pretty well. Our recent class project was to make a short movie clip. It was alot of fun making it . It is only a two min long clip but it took us two day to make. The only thing I did was the filming. The students edited the video and chose the songs for the video, of course with my help. Lol. Its really cute. The students got to choose a English topic that we had studied , and they chose " Where are you from", so each student representes a different country, except for one student who is an alien. We did it in Korean and English. It's really cute and funny !! I hope you enjoy it.
I promise I will post again with my updated trip from Thailand. THANKS FOR READING!!!
